*Vase of Light, Petals in Flight* holds a quiet mystery—three sunflowers, bold and luminous against a shadowed backdrop, seem to ripple with a presence beyond their form. The yellow ceramic vessel anchors them, yet the petals that drift away suggest something transient, caught mid-escape. Painting on Belgian Linen with oil allowed me to explore this tension between solidity and movement, light and shadow, in a way that feels elemental, almost ritualistic. The sunflowers were drawn from those towering stalks in my garden, reaching upward as if summoned by some unseen force, a gesture both defiant and tender. The darkness around them hums with quiet depth, inviting the eye to follow the petals as they take flight—carriers of a silent, unfolding story. This piece was born from a need to embrace boldness in the face of stillness, to find vibrancy in contrast, and to hold a moment poised between presence and absence.
